Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are water-resistant chemicals — long used in cookware, fabrics, firefighting foam, and other applications — that pollute water supplies and cause cancer and other diseases. Over 90 percent of people worldwide have measurable amounts of PFAS in their bloodstreams. Aclarity has invented a low-power electro-oxidation process that eliminates PFAS at industrial scale in landfill leachate and the brines and concentrates from ion exchange filtration and reverse osmosis, leaving behind only harmless byproducts.
