A cardiac ultrasound test is one of the best ways to catch early signs of heart disease, but the exams are challenging to administer, and there’s a shortage of highly trained sono­g­ra­phers — drastically limiting access to this life-saving technology. Caption Health used machine-learning analysis of thousands of ultrasound images to build ​“copilot” software that helps even inex­pe­ri­enced technicians capture high-quality echocar­dio­grams, potentially opening up ultrasound to broader use. Diagnostic imaging giant GE HealthCare acquired the company in 2023.
