The coronavirus pandemic has proven that nations need better ways to detect and respond to infectious disease outbreaks. Metabiota works with local health agencies to strengthen surveillance of infectious diseases in humans and animals, through public health workforce training and laboratory infrastructure building. The Cameroon-based nonprofit Health and Development in Action (HEADA) acquired Metabiota in 2022.
