Justin leverages his background in microbiology to identify companies using technology to solve important problems across therapeutics, agriculture, food, and industrial applications. He helps those companies and founders navigate the various stages of development to execute on their potential and create value.
As an investor, Justin has worked with companies at every stage from foundation through to exit. He started his investing career with Paine Schwartz Partners, a private-equity firm focused within the food and agriculture industry. Most recently, he was a partner at AccelR8, an early-stage deep tech VC firm focused on climate change mitigation via investments in advanced materials, synthetic biology, and agriculture. He earned a PhD in microbiology and bachelor’s degrees in biology and economics from the University of Chicago and was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University.
