A software engineer turned Silicon Valley COO who has taken six companies public, Merline is an active investor in dozens of businesses that are shaping enterprise technology, healthcare tech, and the future of work. She serves as a director on the boards of numerous public and private companies, advising them on enterprise risks, technology trends, innovation, strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation
Merline previously worked as COO, R&D and IT, at Change Healthcare, and held senior operations roles at Intuit and Yahoo. Earlier in her career, she held key executive and technical development roles at Joyent, PayPal, and Adobe. She started her career as a Software Engineer at Sun Microsystems. Merline received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree in software engineering management from Carnegie Mellon University, where she also served on the Alumni Association Board.
Merline co-founded Black Women on Boards, a global organization of 200 executives at market-leading companies who help prepare, place, and propel top Black female talent into boardrooms of the most innovative companies. GitLab, Symbotic, and TD SYNNEX are among the companies for which Merline serves as a board director.
