Spencer manages firm operations and helps keep the trains running on time in addition to occasional work with DCVC portfolio companies.
Spencer’s venture capital career dates to 1996, when he joined Integral Capital Partners, a sister firm to Kleiner Perkins, as an Associate. He became a General Partner at Bowman Capital, co-managing the firm’s $1 billion venture program, and was a Partner and the manager of the growth stage fund at Bay Partners. He was the Managing Director of the venture capital fund of funds program at Capital Dynamics, a Swiss-based private equity advisor. Spencer gained operational experience as CFO/COO at SnapLogic and Appcelerator, two VC-backed software companies. Spencer received a bachelor’s degree with honors in physical sciences from Harvard University.
